That's really interesting that you should say that about the child who could mitigate climate change. I think that cuts straight to the heart of my central worry.

My problem with this way of thinking about having children is that we are quantifying the good or bad that they will do in advance, and taking that as an extension of our activity. But this is why it is relevant to separate the decision to have a child from the decision to consume products. Your child would be a free agent, and therefore it would seem wrong to feel yourself responsible for everything that they do. I'm currently thinking a lot about the limits of responsibility, I'm not sure where they should be at all. But intuitively, I think assuming all responsibility for your child's actions would be too far. Do you agree?
